Start with a clearer picture of your practice.

Two useful ways to spot the gaps before the next interruption: work through a printable checklist with your team, or answer a short readiness check and see your immediate priorities.

The outage readiness checklist

Bring it to a practice meeting. For each check, ask: could we actually do this tomorrow if the power, phones or records system were unavailable? Mark what is already in place and give someone ownership of what is not.

Follow the dependencies. Check power, records, payments, communications, staff, suppliers and evidence — not just whether you have a backup.

Make it relevant. Dental, veterinary and private clinics can adapt the checks; medical practices and GP surgeries have dedicated prompts for triage, prescribing and vaccine fridges.

The checklist is a conversation starter, not an assessment, certification or substitute for clinical procedures.

After submitting, the printable checklist opens on screen. You can print it or save it as a PDF; we do not email an attachment.
